This qualification is for you if you wish to work as an electrician in the building services industry.

You will need a full level 2 Electrical Installation qualification, successful completion of a progression assessment and GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 or higher. You must also have achieved of a minimum of 90% attendance at your last place of work or study. Adult learners who have relevant industry experience within this subject may be used instead of holding a Level 2 in Electrical Installation.

It has been designed to deliver a high level of occupational skills and provide a platform from which to progress through further learning or into employment. This vocational route at level 3 is a vital step towards becoming a competent electrician. The qualification will help you gain an understanding of the skills required within the electro-technical sector.

This is a theory based course interspersed with small group practical sessions running over two to three days a week.

To gain this qualification, candidates must successfully achieve the following assessments: One externally set, externally moderated assignment (Practical); One externally set, externally marked exams, sat under examination conditions; Portfolio of evidence to show your work experience and engaged with employers. This qualification is graded Pass/Merit/Distinction/Distinction.

This technical qualification focuses on the development of knowledge and practical skills needed for working in the electro-technical industry, which will prepare you to enter an electro-technical apprenticeship programme.

On completion of an Electrical Installation Apprenticeship, you will be recognised by the industry as competent as an installation or maintenance electrician.
